Our Picks: The Top Products to Consider under $150

What to Expect at This Price Range

At this price range, you want a vacuum cleaner with a strong motor and good suction power. That’s what you’re paying for. And, it’s what differentiates the products here from the cheaper vacuums.

The extra power means a few things.

  • The devices in this price range work better for carpet floors. The additional suction power lets you clean rugs and carpets more thoroughly. They also often come with some type brush roll or attachment that lets you agitate the carpet fibers. This helps loosen any particles that are stuck or at the bottom of the pile.
  • They work well for pet hair. The stronger suction makes them capable of not only picking up dog and cat fur but also sucking up clumps of pet hair.
  • You aren’t going to find too many cordless products. There are a few, but most at this price range are built for power. That means being able to pick up particles from carpeting as well as pet hair.

In addition, you’ll want vacuums to have extra tools and features. This can include an extension hose for upright vacuums. This lets them function much like a canister vacuum when needed.

Other features may include HEPA filtration or additional filter systems to keep dirt from escaping back into your home.

Best Vacuum under $150 Reviews

Shark Navigator Professional (NV70)

This product comes equipped with exceptional suction power. We also like that it’s very maneuverable. It isn’t as light as the stick vacuum cleaners but nowhere near as heavy as most upright units. At 15 pounds, you some middle ground as far as weight goes.

The lighter weight however, does not compromise power. It comes with a good sized 1200 watt motor. This gives it enough power to be ideal for homes with pets and carpet flooring.

In addition, it comes with a lot of extra features.

The NV70 offers HEPA filtration and Shark’s Anti-Allergen technology. This keeps dust and dirt locked in the device once it’s sucked in. The anti-allergy system also helps keep the surrounding air healthier. This is ideal if anyone at home is susceptible to allergies or has asthma.

We also like that the unit works well on wood and bare floors as well as carpets. It comes with a brushroll that can be shut off when not being used on carpeting or rugs. This keeps your more delicate floors safe from scratches.

Additionally, you get 4 extra tools with the device. These include the

  • Extension tube
  • Upholstery tool
  • Dusting brush
  • Crevice tool

Hoover T-Series WindTunnel Pet Rewind, UH70210

This is something that’s a little cheaper than the Shark Navigator Professional NV70. It comes it at just over $100.

This is a heavier device at about 18 pounds. It comes in a more classical upright vacuum design. Like the NV70 above, we like that it comes with an extension hose. This makes it still practical even if you have stairs at home. Though you’ll need to do a bit more lifting.

The unit is designed to be a pet vacuum. It comes with good suction power capable of handling this. The power also makes it ideal for homes with thicker carpeting.

What we love most about the unit is its adjustable height. A switch at the bottom of the device lets you manually select the height of the vacuum. This lets you clean both bare and carpet floors effectively and safely.

You can bring the height up when cleaning high pile rugs and carpets. Then turn on the brush roller to make cleaning more efficiently. For more delicate surfaces like hardwood or laminate, just turn off the brushroll and bring down the height to keep the suction closer to the ground.

Overall, this is a fully equipped unit offers good suction.

Shark Navigator Vacuum (NV22S)

If your main concern suction power and the ability to clean up pet hair, this is a good choice. We like it better than the Hoover product above for these purposes.

The unit does however have different features when compared to the Shark Navigator Professional NV70 above.

The NV22S looks a bit bulky but is about a pound lighter than the NV70. Like the NV70, it comes with a good length hose for above the ground cleaning. The hose is also handy because it lets you attach various tools to it. Among them are:

  • Pet brush
  • Upholstery tool
  • Crevice tool
  • Dusting brush

This upright vacuum comes with a brush roll that can be turned on or off. This gives you the ability to clean carpets as well as bare floors easily. Meanwhile, the pet brush can be attached to the hose to rid your home of unwanted pet fur. It works well on upholstery as well as bedding.

One aspect of the product we aren’t fans of is the smaller dust cup. The NV70’s dirt cup is 3.5 times as big as the one on this one (1 quart). This makes it less ideal if you have a large area to clean.

We find it ironic considering the unit has the capability of handling large homes. Plus, pet hair often fills up the dirt cup fast. A larger dirt container would have been nice.

Bissell CleanView Complete Pet Rewind Bagless Upright Vacuum, 1319

This is a great option if you want to be able to get your cleaning done quickly. The unit can help you cover larger spaces faster. This is thanks to its wide 15 inch cleaning head. In addition, it comes with a very long 27 foot power cord.

Together, they let you cover more space in less time.

As with the others, this makes our top picks and reviews because of its performance and features. You get strong suction and are able to clean multiple floors.

The device comes with a specially designed brush roll that’s equipped with 2 kinds of bristles. This helps it clean both carpets and pick up pet hair better. The roller can also be turned off. This makes it safe for use on delicate flooring like wood and tiles.

For pet hair that’s stuck onto furniture and other non-floor surfaces, you get a variety of tools. These are the Pet TurboEraser and Pet Hair Corner tool. They let you pick up fur that’s stuck onto furniture or upholstery. The corner tool also lets you get to the edges of your home when pet hair tend to clump up.
